Jermaine Francis is a multi-disciplinary artist working primarily with photography and video— using lens-based mediums to explore invisibility, diaspora, archive, visual culture, and the construction of historical and contemporary narratives.

His projects engage in the traces of histories, hauntology and our negotiation of their spatial manifestations. Francis is interested in how these historical residues from the past can inform our present, psychologically, physically and sociologically.

He combines photography, spatial practice, and various descriptive codes to position the viewer into a critical space of representation. Employing visual strategies that engage the viewer in a physical, psychological, and phonic experience.Using photography to create space of reimagination to engage in audiences, and communities to contemplate potential new narratives.
